The facts surrounding the problem of Human Trafficking World wide are staggering and shocking to the vast public. Nevertheless the gruesome facts are what is desperately craved inorder to acknowledge there must be actions of justice to Re Abolish these crimes. There are 27 Million slaves in the world today. The MOST ever recorded in History. The exploitation of human beings produced over 20 Billion dollars for these highly illegal needless to say damaging crimes last year alone. Despite belief of some it is ILLEGAL everywhere in the world but also happens in every part of the Globe which includes the United States. 50% of these victimized are children. They themselves are often runaways from bleak situations, kidnapped, & or families are defrauded by the traffickers promising a “better life” elsewhere with ” well paying” jobs along with “adequate education” etc. What occurs instead of a “good life” is they are sold for profit thus in most cases are eventually sent abroad as hard laborers, sweat shop workers, cocoa bean producers, drug mules, forced to take part in war, and probably one of the most horrific & prominent of all the Sexual Exploitation Industry…just to name a few. These victims are constantly manipulated, lied to, brutalized mentally, emotionally, & physically. They are forced to “work” impossible hours 7 days a week, raped repeatedly, beaten, starved, and are forced to live in the most unsanitary squallier of conditions. The average age someone is introduced to prostitution is now 10-11 years of age even edging down to 3 years of age in recent years inorder to ”avoid the HIV virus.” The victims are unable to run away, withhold money, etc due to the fact they are under constant surveillance & minipulation by the traffickers which use their “knowledge” as to where the victims families reside to intimidate & threaten the loved ones safety. In many cases the victims are even stalked IF they are successful in fleeing thus brought back to their previous conditions with severe punishment once recovered by their exploiters. For they are considered “property” & worth money to the traffickers. If captured the consequences are worse than death. For instance a young Woman ,who is now an advocate for those trapped in the exploitation industry, explained on a documentary entitled “Tainted Love” following a life in prostitution from the ages of 13-22 beginning in the Washington DC quoted “There was a basement (belonging to the Pimp) that only the girls to be punished were put in.After being beaten & raped (by the pimp & cohorts.) They were tied to chairs & raped by Dobermans then left down there for days (without food or water.)” The average life expectancy of survival within these conditions for the victims is 2 years. To keep their victims “in line” they are often forced thus become addicted to narcotics. Inevitably with the previously explained living situations these victims often die from AIDS, homicide (by the traffickers & or Johns), malnutrition, overdoes, suicide & so on. Despite what they may have been promised prior to being sold as slaves they NEVER recieve compensation for all of the torture they endure. All of the money goes to the exploiters. Drugs, weapon trafficking, & prostitution often go hand in hand so to speak. Those that traffic weapons, deal or buy drugs are ALWAYS contributing to the ongoing status of the exploitation industry contrary to popular belief. Those that fight this modern day autrocity against humanity are known as Abolitionist.
